ELECTIONS 2009

In accordance with By-Law 1 of the GCBA Constitution OPEN elections for the following Executive positions will be held at the next Annual General Meeting of Members which is proposed for OCTOBER 2009

Accordingly, the GCBA Executive Committee is now seeking NOMINATIONS for a 2 yr term for the following positions on the GCBA Executive Committee for the

2009-10 & 2010-11 seasons:

• VP OPS House League Operations – BOYS
• VP Competitive Operations
• Executive Secretary

Elections will take place at the Annual General Meeting in OCTOBER 2009

We are also seeking candidates for appointment to the following Executive positions which will become OPEN (with one year remaining on the Term of office) in May 2009.

• VP OPS HL – GIRLS

The energy of the GCBA is not only found on the basketball court, it is also in the ranks of the volunteers that make the program work week in and week out.

Volunteers are coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, scorers, timers, convenors, directors and members of the Executive.

Basketball experience is not necessary - just a desire to do something for the community! And, having children in the GCBA programs is not a necessity either! We welcome basketball lovers from all over, and many of our volunteers are just "in it for the ball" and for the kids.

Volunteer Screening

The GCBA has instituted a background police check program to help assure the safety of our players. Volunteers working directly with children will be asked to submit to a background check and may be asked to provide personal references. Please do not take offense at this practice - we are following guidelines established by a number of sports and non-profit organizations across the province of Ontario.
